Queens Park Rangers are reportedly considering former Turkish international and renowned coach Sergen Yalcin as a leading candidate to fill their vacant managerial position, as reported by to Turkiye Today.
The Championship club, which concluded the past season in 15th place, is widely expected to part ways with current head coach Marti Cifuentes.
QPR is understood to be in the process of compiling a shortlist of potential successors, with the 51-year-old Yalcin among the names receiving serious consideration. Yalcin, who most recently managed Antalyaspor until January 2024, is currently unattached. Sources close to the coach indicate he has instructed his staff to “be ready,” hinting at a keen interest in a move abroad.

Yalcin is widely celebrated as one of Türkiye’s most naturally gifted footballers. A dynamic and creative midfielder renowned for his exceptional left foot, he enjoyed a distinguished playing career spanning the 1990s and early 2000s, representing all four of the nation’s biggest clubs: Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Trabzonspor.
Transitioning into management, Yalcin quickly earned acclaim for his tactical acumen and passionate approach. His most significant achievement came in the 2020–21 season, where he guided Besiktas to a historic league and cup double. This remarkable feat cemented his place in club history as the only individual to win the Turkish Super Lig both as a player and as a manager.
Since his success with Besiktas, Yalcin has managed several other Super Lig clubs, including Gaziantepspor, Sivasspor, Alanyaspor, and Yeni Malatyaspor. His coaching philosophy is often characterized as bold and pragmatic, emphasizing strong team cohesion and adaptable tactical strategies.
Should Yalcin be appointed, he would become one of a select few Turkish coaches to take the helm of an English club, potentially marking a significant new chapter in his already illustrious career.
