Rangers Hold Firm, Reject Galatasaray Transfer Bid

Rangers reportedly dug their heels in on deadline day, refusing Galatasaray’s bid for Turkish left-back Ridvan Yilmaz.

This decision keeps the 22-year-old at Ibrox despite limited playing time this season.

Yilmaz wants to stay at Rangers and has no intention of leaving unless his club decide to sell him, sources have told Turkish-Football.

The Turkish international has settled in well and does not want to leave at a time when he has established himself as first choice left-back and entered a rich vein of from.

Yilmaz is eyeing a place in the Euro 2024 team and does not want to disrupt his current progress at Rangers and through his near future into uncertainty.

The 24-year-old has manager to move ahead of Borna Barisic in the pecking order for the starting spot and has started the last six league games.

Galatasaray, Yilmaz’s former club’s rivals, offered a reported £4 million, but Rangers refused to budge.

While the fee seems low considering Yilmaz’s cost (£3.5 million), his recent form suggests potential. If he maintains it, rejecting the bid could prove wise.

Earlier in the window, Hellas Verona was linked with Yilmaz, even sparking rumors of a swap deal involving Scottish left-back Josh Doig. However, Doig joined Hellas Verona directly, leaving the swap dream unrealized.

While Yilmaz remains at Rangers, his long-term future remains unclear. His recent displays have shown promise, but he faces growing interest.
