Ilkay Gundogan surprised many Manchester City fans when he turned up to training with a face mask on.
The 29-year-old made fun of his mask on social media when he joked that he resembles the fictional vigilante Zorro.
Gundogan opted against revealing the reason behind the facial mask.
According to a report in the Daily Mail today, the Man City star is wearing the facemask after undergoing an operation on his nose.
Per the source, Gundogan has gone under the knife to correct a deviated septum.
The Mail goes onto say that Gundogan will have to wear the mask for the first two weeks of the 2018/19 Premier League season.
