Reason why Jack Wilshere cant break into Arsenal starting XI revealed
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed why Jack Wilshere can’t break into the Gunners starting eleven in the Premier League.
The England international started for Arsenal against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday night. However, Wilshere has hardly featured for the Gunners in the league.
Wenger has stated that Wilshere’s best position is in the attacking midfield role rather than in central midfield. This puts him in direct competition with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The 25-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent years and only recently returned to full fitness.

“In my head, he’s more a little bit higher up [the field]. I see him more a player who can affect the game in the final third than a player who is a box-to-box player,” Wenger told reporters.
“He’s a little bit in conflict in this position with Ozil and Sanchez. I believe he can as well play in midfield in a 4-2-3-1, he can play midfield in a 4-3-3. In the system we play, I see him a bit more advanced.”
Wilshere is once again expected to start on the bench when Arsenal take on Manchester City in the Premier League this season.
The Gunners have registered four wins and a draw since their shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Watford FC.
