Revealed: Besiktas boss confirms interest in Chelsea striker but admits transfer will ‘not be easy’

Besiktas have been closely linked with a move for Chelsea striker Diego Costa over the past week.

Black Eagles boss Senol Gunes has now come out and officially confirmed interest in the Spanish international.

Speaking at the Nevzat Demir training grounds Gunes revealed that Costa is a target but that pulling off the transfer will not be easy.

Gunes said: “Then there is Diego Costa, I want him but it will not be easy to pull off.

“If Diego is open to coming I would not say no. I could not refuse such a striker.”

The Black Eagles have prioritised signing a new striker this window.

Besiktas currently have just one first team striker on their books, Cenk Tosun.

Vincent Aboubakar has returned to Porto following the end of his loan stay, leaving the Black Eagles lacking options upfront.

Costa has been identified as a target but the Istanbul giants would be unable to sign him on a permanent move.

The only way the 28-year-old could end up at Besiktas is on a loan move.

The possibility of Costa ending up at Besiktas may not be as far fetched as it seems.

AS report that Atletico Madrid are planning to sign Costa and loan him out.

The Spanish giants are serving a transfer embargo which means they are unable to register new signings for another six months.

Another factor strengthening the Eagles hand is their close ties to super-agent Jorge Mendes.

The agent represents Costa and only recently completed Pepe’s move to Besiktas.

Mendes has been involved in several transfer to Besiktas recently including Ricardo Quaresma and Anderson Talisca.

Besiktas have won the league title for two-seasons and will compete in next seasons Champions League.
