Revealed: Monchi confirms Sevilla still in race for £12m Tottenham target

Legendary Sevilla sporting director Monchi has revealed that the La Liga side are still in the race for Oguzhan Ozyakup.

Monchi confirmed that Sevilla tried to sign Ozyakup last summer but Besiktas rejected the offer.

The Sevilla transfer wizard did however, reveal that his former side are still in the race.

“Sevilla tried to sign him last summer but Besiktas did not want him to leave, the door is however, still open,” Monchi told Estadio Deportivo.

Monchi recently retired from his role at the club and is expected to join Roma or PSG.

The Argentinain helped discover Diego Capel, Alberto Moreno, Jesús Navas, Antonio Puerta, Sergio Ramos and José Antonio Reyes and he setup a network of over 700 scouts around the world.

The Daily Star recently linked Tottenham with a £12 million move for the Besiktas star.

Per the source, Spurs are plotting a summer move for the 24-year-old.

Ozyakup was a former Arsenal youth and would be able to play in England due to being an EU citizen – he was born in the Netherlands.

The Turkish international has been in great form for Besiktas since joining from Arsenal in 2012.

Ozyakup played an important role in Besiktas winning the league title last season.

The creative midfielder has four goals and six assists in all competitions for the Black Eagles this season.
