Robbie Savage Makes Naby Keita Claim About Emre Can But Admits ‘It Is Sad’ To See Him Leave

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can continues to be linked with an Anfield exit as his contract runs down.

The midfielder of Turkish origin has just a few months remaining on his current deal and will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he reaches an agreement over an extension.

The 24-year-old has attracted interest from Juventus who have made no secret of their desire to sign the midfielder but he has not ruled out staying on at Liverpool either.

BT Sport pundit Robbie Savage is of the view that Can will be leaving but feels it is a shame considering he is in his prime.

Savage does however, believe Naby Keita will replace him.

Keita will join the Reds from Red Bull Leipzig but he is not exactly a like for like player with Can.

When asked about Can’s future, Savage told BT Sport: “It is sad to see a player leaving in their prime.

“But he can only keep putting in man-of-the-match performances.

“Let’s not forget they’ve got Naby [Keita] coming in the summer.

“He’s a very good player driving forward for the ball.

“He could replace Can, but his performance against Swansea was exceptional.”

Keita could however, lessen Can’s playing time in theory – if he were to stay.

Jurgen Klopp does appear to be keen on Can and continues to play him despite uncertainty over his future.

The Reds reopened a five-point gap over top-four rivals Tottenham with a 3-0 win away to Huddersfield but had their lead cut to two points after Spurs beat Manchester United on Wednesday.
