Roma wonder-kid could end up joining Bundesliga side Man City had agreed for him to sign had he joined over the summer

Cengiz Under became the most expensive Turkish international player to leave the Super Lig when he signed for Roma from Basaksehir this summer.

Roma paid €15 million for Under in a record deal.

The 20-year-old has been a regular feature in the Serie A match day squad setup but has struggled to lock down a consistent role in the starting line-up.

Under has made eight appearances for the Italian giants this season but has played just 310 minutes of football.

The young winger was on the verge of signing for Manchester City before making the move to Roma.

Turkish-Football reported that City had actually agreed a deal with Under’s representatives and were about to complete the transfer before Roma trumped their bid and offered the youngster a spot in the first team.

Under is the youngest player in the current Roma setup but according to Turkish newspaper Milliyet he is considering a six-month loan to gain more regular playing time.

Coincidently the repot claims that Freiburg want Under on a temporary move.

City had planned to sign Under and loan him to the Bundesliga outfit this season.

Under’s former Altinordu teammate Caglar Soyuncu is already at the club and has established himself as a star player despite being just 21-years-old.

Freiburg are currently 13th in the Bundesliga table.
