Ryan Babel uses Man City to explain why Champions League football is easier than the league
In a world moving increasingly towards social media managers sending carefully worded messages on football players behalf it is refreshing that Ryan Babel still actually has control of his own account.
The Besiktas star is renowned for his Twitter rants and his latest was pretty special.
Ryan revealed that he was asked by a fan in a shop why the Black Eagles are playing so well in the Champions League but struggling domestically.
I was at a store today waiting in line to pay for for my goodies and a BJK fan came up to me with a good question

Besiktas became the first Turkish side to make it out of the group stage as Champions League leaders following last weeks 1-1 draw against Porto.
The reigning Super Lig champions have however, drawn their last two games in the league, falling six points behind leaders Galatasaray.
Babel revealed that the Champions League is easier than the Super Lig because teams are actually interested in playing football.
Crazy as it sounds but in the Champions League is easier to play a better game because of the following reasons…

The Dutch star claimed that Turkish league sides are only interested in parking the bus against them.
A game like yesterday is very different from a Champions League game ofcourse because most teams the turkish League are sitting back with 11 man infront of their goal and waiting on our mistakes to counter..

That is the main difference why games like yesterday are actually the most difficult games to play..
— Ryan Babel (@Ryanbabel) 26 November 2017
I asked if people were watching Man City because they play exactly the same game we played yesterday.. meaning the team they are facing now is sitting back infront of their goal which makes it harder to create chances…

Babel used Manchester City as an example, highlighting the fact that Huddersfield took the lead and were drawing against them for much of the game.
At this moment Man city is down 1-0

The Citizens did end up scoring a last gasp winner to ruin Babel’s point but we got the message he was trying to put across.
The former Liverpool man feels that league teams fear Besiktas because they have won the league for the past two seasons and their Champions League record.
It appears Besiktas have become a victim of their own success in the league.
We want to apologize as team and we will work harder to have a solution for these types of games in the future…
