Ryan Babel uses Man City to explain why Champions League football is easier than the league

In a world moving increasingly towards social media managers sending carefully worded messages on football players behalf it is refreshing that Ryan Babel still actually has control of his own account.

The Besiktas star is renowned for his Twitter rants and his latest was pretty special.

Ryan revealed that he was asked by a fan in a shop why the Black Eagles are playing so well in the Champions League but struggling domestically.

Besiktas became the first Turkish side to make it out of the group stage as Champions League leaders following last weeks 1-1 draw against Porto.

The reigning Super Lig champions have however, drawn their last two games in the league, falling six points behind leaders Galatasaray.

Babel revealed that the Champions League is easier than the Super Lig because teams are actually interested in playing football.

The Dutch star claimed that Turkish league sides are only interested in parking the bus against them.

Babel used Manchester City as an example, highlighting the fact that Huddersfield took the lead and were drawing against them for much of the game.

The Citizens did end up scoring a last gasp winner to ruin Babel’s point but we got the message he was trying to put across.

It appears Besiktas have become a victim of their own success in the league.
