Roma were defeated 5-4 on penalties by Manchester City at the International Championship Cup in Australia.
Turkish intentional Salih Uçan made his second consecutive start for the Serie A giants in the friendly tournament.
Uçan also starred in the first game against Real Madrid which Roma ended up winning on penalties.
The Turkish international midfielder spent last season on loan at the Italian giants but struggled for playing time due to injury problems. Uçan suffered four injury blows over the past season.
Roma agreed to a two-year loan option last season with a buyout clause option.
The 21-year-old is expected to get more playing time this season after recovering from his recurring injury problem.
The Serie A outfit finished the last season as runners up and booked a place in the Champions League group stages.
