Sam Allardyce Reveals What New Everton Attacking Line Up Must Do To Be A Success

Everton have struggled for goals this season, in fact only Burnley have found the back of the net fewer times in the top four.

The Toffees have score a total of 26 goals this season which probably explains why the club decided to invest heavily over the witner transfer window bringing in Cenk Tosun from Besiktas and Theo Walcott from Arsenal.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce revealed that the key to his new attacking line-up being a success is for them to settle in as quickly as possible.

The Merseyside based outfit have looked disjointed in attack over the past few weeks but it could be down to a settling in process.

“Cenk will hopefully settle in straight away, too, so we’ve got options to go out there and make us better as an attacking force and get more results as quickly as we can,” Allardyce was quoted as saying to the Liverpool Echo.

Tosun has started the Toffees last two games but has failed to find the back of the net as of yet.

The Turkey international has been left isolated upfront, starved of service.

The 26-year-old was used to playing for an attacking side at Besiktas where he helped guide the team to back-to-back league titles.

Tosun also was involved in six of the Istanbul giants 11 goals as they became the first Turkish side to finish the Champions League group stage as leaders.

The striker is a proven striker at domestic, Champions League and international level.

Perhaps the introduction of Walcott could increase service and provide the team with another attacking dimension.

Big Sam appears to think so.

“I hope Theo can hit the ground running and do what he’s done at Arsenal and be a success almost immediately,” said Allardyce.

“When you’ve got the threat of pace and more pace than we had before, it frightens opposition defences and I think that gives us an opportunity to stretch the opposition teams more than we are doing now and get in and around them and behind them and score more goals.

“Of course, we’ve also got Dom and Ademola but they’re at the younger end and it’s hard for those lads to play every week at this level until they gain enough experience.”

Everton take on Leicester City next in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium. Walcott and Tosun are both expected to start.
