Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic revealed that he is delighted his side are back at the top of the table following the 2-1 win over Rizespor.

“After a poor first half, I told the lads to pull themselves together or otherwise, and they got the message,” Bilic told the official Beşiktaş website.

“We picked up a valuable win and three points tonight. It is nice to be back atop the Super League table once again.”

The Black Eagles played much of the second half against nine men after Rizespor picked up two red cards.

Beşiktaş were criticised for their performance but the win was the Eagles sixth consecutive away win.

The Turkish giants have the best away record in the league. Beşiktaş have won 10 out of the 11 games they have played on the road this season.

Beşiktaş moved into first place in the Süper Lig on 44 points following the win, overtaking Fenerbahçe who dropped into second place.

Galatasaray are currently five points behind Beşiktaş but will cut the gap to two points with a win against Eskişehirspor on Monday.
