Slaven Bilic – 'I love Istanbul'

Beşiktaş manager Slaven Bilic admitted that he loves living in Istanbul and that culturally it is similar to Croatia.

“I love Istanbul, it has a similar climate to Split and the culture is similar, I am back to the seaside and feel at home,” Bilic told Bosnian television channel BHT.

Bilic revealed that he does not get to see much of the city during the week but that he explores different areas on his days off.

“I am confined to a small area of the city for most of the week but on my days off I visit historical places and explore different parts,” he added.

The Croatian manager also revealed that he likes the breakfast culture in Turkey.

“There really is a lot to do here, I really love the breakfast culture here,” Bilic said.

Beşiktaş are currently second in the Süper Lig, just one point behind league leaders Galatasaray.

The Istanbul giants blew an opportunity to open up a seven point gap with third placed Fenerbahçe before the international break. The Yellow Canaries beat Beşiktaş 1-0 in the Istanbul derby.

The Black Eagles will take on Istanbul minnows Başakşehir next on Monday.
