The Norwegian signed a contract that runs until the end of next season, with an option to extend for another year.
This marks his return to management after being sacked by Manchester United in 2021.
Solskjaer enjoyed a successful playing career at Old Trafford, scoring 126 goals in 366 appearances.
He then returned to the club as interim manager before being appointed as the permanent successor to Jose Mourinho.
Besiktas are currently sixth in the Turkish Super Lig and are looking to improve their league position under Solskjaer’s guidance.
This appointment marks a significant return to management for the Norwegian and adds another chapter to the strong ties between Manchester United and Turkish football, with Jose Mourinho also having managed Fenerbahçe.
