Exclusive – Southampton & Aston Villa Plot Move For German Defender Tobias Pachonik

Southampton and Aston Villa are among several sides plotting a summer move for Carpi FC defender Tobias Pachonik a source close to the player revealed to Turkish-Football.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Fiorentina have also expressed an interest in the 23-year-old.

The Saints, Villa, Frankfurt and Fiorentina have been keeping tabs on the defender who has been in impressive form in the Serie B.

Pachonik is available on a free transfer as he has yet to sign a contract extension with Carpi.

The Italian side do have the option to extend his deal by another two seasons which they are expected to use.

Villa narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League this season and are keen on strengthening defensively with the prospect of John Terry leaving.

The German has attracted growing interest across Europe after an impressive season in the Italian second tier.

Pachonik was named among the Serie B team of the season voted by the coaches of the 22 teams in the league according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The versatile right-back is capable of playing in more advanced roles and in central defence.

Pachonik provided three assists in 38 appearances in all competitions for Carpi over the 2017-18 campaign.

The German defender has represented his country at U20 and U19 level.
