Southampton Football Club has confirmed that goalkeeper Mateusz Lis has joined Süper Lig side Göztepe on a permanent transfer.
The club sent the following message to Lis following the transfer: “The club would like to wish him well for the future, and thank Mateusz for his efforts during his time at Southampton.”
The 27-year-old Polish shot-stopper signed for the club in June 2022 but never made a competitive appearance for the Saints.
Lis spent the past two seasons on loan at French side Troyes and Goztepe, where he helped the Turkish club achieve promotion to the Süper Lig. His impressive performances during his time at Goztepe earned him a permanent deal with the club.

The departure of Lis opens the door for Southampton to add another goalkeeper to their squad. The Saints are reportedly working on a deal to sign Justin Bijlow from Feyenoord, which would provide them with additional depth and competition in the goalkeeping department.
With Alex McCarthy, Gavin Bazunu, and Joe Lumley already on the books, Southampton have a strong group of goalkeepers. The addition of Bijlow would further strengthen their options and provide cover in case of injuries or suspensions.
