Southampton join Euro Giants in race to sign Chelsea defender ready to quit Stamford Bridge in January

Galatasaray are expected to face further competition in the race to sign Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill in January.

The Istanbul giants have been frequently linked with a move for the 32-year-old since the summer. Galatasaray tried to sign Cahill earlier this year and are interested in signing him during the winter transfer window.

However, according to the Mirror, Southampton are also interested in the former England international.

Per the source, Cahill is open to a move away from Stamford Bridge after falling down the pecking order at Chelsea.

The Mirror goes onto state that Southampton are keen on signing an experienced defender in January to help bolster their leaky defence.

Cahill has played just 21 minutes of Premier League football so far this season.
