Newly promoted Premier League side Southampton has made a move for Fenerbahce right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel but face competition from Besiktas, sources have told Turkish-Football

Saints Bolstering Squad for Top-Flight Return

With their return to the Premier League confirmed, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl is busy strengthening his squad for the upcoming season.

The acquisition of left-back Charlie Taylor on a free transfer from Burnley has already been announced, and Osayi-Samuel appears to be another target on their defensive shopping list.

Southampton have made an offer for the 24-year-old defender but Besiktas are also interested as they want to rebuild the squad after a dismal season.

The final decision on Osayi-Samuel’s future will likely rest with Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho. The Nigeria international has experience playing in both Turkey and England.

Right Time to Sell?

Osayi-Samuel made 23 appearances in the Turkish Süper Lig last season, but with only one year remaining on his contract, Fenerbahce might view this summer as an opportune moment to cash in on the player.

The Yellow Canaries finished as runners-up and are expected to make a number of changes to break their Super Lig trophy drought next term.

Will Saints Secure Their Man?

Southampton will need to wait and see if their offer meets Fenerbahce’s valuation and convinces Mourinho to part ways with Osayi-Samuel. The coming days or weeks should reveal whether the Saints will secure their target or need to explore other defensive options.
