Steven Gerrard Reveals He Is A ‘Fan’ Of Liverpool Wonder Kid & Expects Him To Bounce Back From Injury Blow

Liverpool wonder kid Rhian Brewster suffered ankle ligament damage against Manchester City last Friday night.

The Reds U18 manager Steven Gerrard expects Brewster to bounce back from the injury which could see him ruled out for a considerable period.

Gerrard also revealed that he is a fan of the rising star and that he has the support of everyone in the camp.

“Rhian is a great kid and a fantastic footballer. He is a mentally strong kid as well and I’m sure he will bounce back,” Gerrard told Liverpoolfc.com.

“He’s got the right physios and doctors and Critch (U23 manager Neil Critchley) and Mick (Garrity) will get around him and keep his spirits up, and he will bounce back.

“It is a setback, it’s disappointing for everyone involved, and there may have been a chance he might have been available for the FA Youth Cup game with Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday as well.

“Everyone knows I’m such a fan of Rhian. Of course the kid is down at the moment. We are still waiting for further tests and results to see the full extent of the injury, but he’s got everyone’s support here.

“Everybody is rallying around him and making sure he stays in the best place he can be in.”

Further tests will be carried out but an initial diagnosis suggests ligament damage in the high ankle area.

Brewster was part of the England side that won the Under-17 World Cup in Brazil but still has the option to represent Turkey at senior international level.

The young forward was born in London and represents England at Under-17 level but a little known fact about the young forward is that he is eligible to play for Turkey.

A source close to the player has revealed to Turkish-Football that the Reds wonder-kid has a Turkish mother and would be able to play for the Crescent-Stars at senior level.
