Stoke City have agreed to sell midfielder Josh Laurent to Turkish club Sivasspor, according to TEAMtalk sources.

The 29-year-old’s future at Stoke was uncertain as he entered the final year of his contract.

Interest from Birmingham City and other clubs had emerged, but Sivasspor have secured his signature.

Stoke were open to letting Laurent leave due to his expiring contract.

A transfer fee has been agreed upon with Sivasspor, but the exact amount is undisclosed.

However, Laurent still needs to agree personal terms with the Super Lig outfit and negotiations are ongoing. If a deal is reached the transfer is expected to go ahead.

Laurent served as Stoke’s captain and played a key role in their survival bid last season with 37 appearances.

He joined Stoke on a free transfer in 2022 and has contributed eight goals and six assists in 76 games.

Laurent’s departure leaves Stoke with a midfield shortage, especially with Ben Pearson injured and Daniel Johnson potentially leaving too.

Youngster Sol Sidibe may see more playing time, but Stoke manager Steven Schumacher will need reinforcements in midfield and attack.

Sivasspor finished last season in 7th place on 54 points, they will not compete in European competitin football next season.
