Stoke City confirm interest in €8.5m Liverpool target

Stoke City assistant manager Mark Bowen has confirmed interest in Fenerbahce star Luis Nani.

Nani has been closely linked with a move to Valencia with reports in Turkey claiming that the La Liga outfit have already activated his €8.5 million release clause option.

Bowen believes that Stoke could end up convincing Nani to join despite Valencia interest due to the draw of the Premier League.

“I know there is an interest there. Valencia are a big club but it is the draw of the Premier League,” Mark Bowen told talkSPORT.

“He is player that Mark admires a lot and he has had a very good tournament. Without giving too much away, there is an interest there and let’s see what happens.”

Stoke could also face competition from Liverpool. Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik meanwhile report that the Reds are also ready to activate Nani’s release clause.

Nani did of course play for Manchester United before joining Fenerbahce on a three-year deal last season.

The Portuguese international won four league titles and the Champions League during his time at Old Trafford.

Nani is currently join top goal scorer for Portugal alongside Cristiano Ronaldo with two goals.

The 29-year-old is expected to leave Fenerbahce after the European Championships and recently confirmed that he is interested in a return to the Premier League.

“I like England, I like the football, and you never know what the future will bring,” Nani was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “One day you could be here, the next you’re over there, so let’s see.”
