Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has been left devastated after young fan Charlie Middleton passed away following a long battle with cancer.
Ozil invited Charlie to the 2017 FA Cup final as well a Premier League game against Sunderland.
The young Arsenal fan had suffered from tumours on his brain and spine and passed away aged just 12 this week.
The playmaker of Turkish origin wrote: “Such sad news to hear that my friend and huge @Arsenal supporter Charlie has passed away after his long battle with cancer. “Rest in peace! We will miss you so much, Charlie.”

Ozil invited Charlie to his box for a number of games while he was battling with three aggressive tumors.
The 30-year-old is involved with several charities and was at an event for the Rays of Sunshine community which works with seriously ill children in the UK aged 3-18.

Arsenal are set to face Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League next in Portugal on Thursday for their Match Day 3 clash.
Ozil is match fit heading into the clash but it remains to be seen whether head coach Unai Emery will rotate his side in the midst of such a busy fixture list.
