Sunderland in early talks with Turkish giants over sale of star defender – Negotiations have already hit a stumbling block

Trabzonspor have set their sights on Sunderland star defender Lamine Kone.

The Black Sea based side are keen to strengthen their squad over the summer as they look to maintain a title challenge this season.

According to the Trabzon based outlet 61Saat, Trabzonspor have enquired about the availability of the 29-year-old.

Kone has been linked with a move away from Sunderland after they were relegated to League 1.

However, the report goes onto state that Sunderland have slapped a £6 million price-tag on the centre-back.

Per the source, Trabzonspor, who have struggled to balance the books in recent years, are in no position to match Sunderland’s asking price.

Per the source, Trabzonspor will look into the possibility of singing Kone on a season-long loan. The former FC Lorient star has three-years remaining on his contract with Sunderland.

Kone made a total of 24 Championship appearances for the Black Cats last season. Sunderland’s first game of the season is up against Charlton Athletic.
