Sunderland transfer news: Black cats accept bid from Euro giants for transfer of £8m star midfielder

Besiktas are close to completing the transfer of Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens.

The Turkish outlet Futbol Arena claim Sunderland have accepted a €4 million bid from Besiktas for the Netherlands international.

Per the source, the two clubs will ‘shake hands’ on a deal while Lens is set for a medical in Istanbul.

The Netherlands international will be well used to the Turkish Super League after spending last season on loan at Besiktas’ rivals Fenerbahce.

The transfer will not go down well among Fener supporters and will raise tensions between the two clubs.

Fenerbahce attempted to sign Lens on loan earlier this summer however, they were unable to agree a fee with Sunderland.

Lens joined Sunderland from the Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev for £8 million back in 2015. However, Lens fell out of favour at the Stadium of Light following the departure of Dick Advocate.

Advocate went on to manage Fenerbahce and brought Lens with him to Istanbul.

Lens racked up an impressive 17 assists and five goals in 38 appearances for Fenerbahce last season.
