Sunderland winger does not rule out transfer to rival Turkish league clubs
Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens revealed that he wants to stay at Fenerbahce next season but did not rule out a move to a rival Turkish club.
Lens spoke to reporters after Fenerbahce’s 3-1 win over Akhisar in the Turkish league.
The Dutch star was asked if he would consider joining another Turkish club.
“I want to stay on at Fenerbahce but you never know what the future holds,” Lens said.
The 29-year-old scored in the 3-1 win and was awarded the Man of the Match.
Lens joined Fenerbahce on a one-year loan from Sunderland over the summer and has hit the ground running in Turkey.
The experienced winger has settled into life in Turkey and established himself as a fan favourite at Fenerbahce.
The Netherlands international has however, been linked with a move to reigning champions and current leaders Besiktas.
A move to Besiktas would prove to be hugely controversial considering the rivalry between the two Istanbul clubs.
Lens is currently rated the best player in the Turkish league according to Whoscored.
