Hannover 96 maintained their 27 year unbeaten home record against Frankfurt with a 1-0 win at the HDI Arena.
The home side needed a late own-goal from Alexander Madlung to secure the win which lifted them into the top six on 16 points.
Despite relying on an own-goal for the victory Hannover dominated possession throughout the game and were rewarded for their efforts.
Coach Tayfun Korkut said, “Sure, we want to score more goals. Frankfurt were a tough opposition but we got the three points and that is what is important.”
Turkish international Ceyhun Gülselam missed the game due to suspension however, Korkut did give 20-year-old Turkish forward Kenan Karaman playing time in the last 10 minutes.
Korkut became the first Turkish international to take over a Bundesliga club when he was appointed Hannover manager last season.
It is the first senior coaching job for the former Fenerbahçe midfielder who previously worked as a youth team coach at Real Sociedad, Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart.
