‘He’s Living Off Scraps’ – Paul Merson Grades Everton Transfers Window

The winter transfer window is over in the Premier League and Paul Merson took time out to grade every clubs signings over January.

The Everton review in particular had us interested after Cenk Tosun joined from Besiktas last month.

Merson revealed what many of us have pointed out, Tosun needs better service.

Well the former Arsenal man actually said he needs an ‘opportunity’ as he has been living ‘off scraps’.

The Toffees were given an overall B+ grade by Merson on Sky Sports.

“This has been a decent window,” Merson said. “They’ve let players go that weren’t playing and got them off the wage bill.

“Theo has scored over 100 goals for Arsenal and the lad Tosun needs an opportunity because he’s living off scraps so far. They’ll be pleased with their business.”

Tosun was dropped against Leicester City in favour of Oumar Niasse, who ironically was linked with a winter exit.

The Turkey international star joined the Toffees having been direcntly involved in 17 goals for Besiktas who will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League Last 16 next.

The Merseyside based outfit also signed Theo Walcott from Arsenal who has two goals and an assist since joining.

Everton parted ways with Ross Barkley to Chelsea and Aaron Lennon to Burnley, while Ramirez, Ademola Lookman and Kevin Mirallas have all left the club on loan to Sevilla, RB Leipzig and Olympiakos on loan, respectively.
