A total of £442,734 was raised at the Arsenal Foundation’s event.

The watch was part of an auction that also included boots from all the squad members.

The 29-year-old is renowned for his charitable efforts and founded the ‘Özil-Foundation’ in 2015 to support children and young people around the world.

The Germany international has also been a Laureus ambassador and has worked with the foundation on charitable projects including helping Brazilian kids living in poverty after the World Cup.

The 27-year-old was also presented with a Laureus Sport for Good award in recognition of his work. Ozil used his World Cup bonus to fund operations for 23 seriously ill Brazilian children.

Ozil will miss the final game of the season due to a back injury but is expected to recover in time for the World Cup in Russia this summer.
