Bruma scored the winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Genclerbirligi to take Galatasaray joint top of the Super Lig table.
The 21-year-old has hit the ground running this season having scored three goals and provided three assists in the league. Bruma is currently – statistically – the best performing player in the league according to Whoscored.
Galatasaray sporting director Levent Nazifoglu underlined that the club are delighted with how Bruma has performed this season and stated that he is the Lionel Messi of his generation.
“Bruma is the Lionel Messi of his generation (21 year old players), his only problem was self-confidence otherwise he would have already exploded on the scene,” Nazioglu was quoted as saying by Turkish-football.com at his latest press conference.
The rising Portuguese star was tipped as being an understudy for Cristiano Ronaldo when he first started making a name for himself at Sporting Lisbon but his development was hindered by injuries and a period of instability at Galatasaray.
Bruma’s red hot form has attracted interest from the Premier League. A source close to the player revealed to Turkish-football.com that Tottenham and Arsenal kept tabs on his display against the Ankara based outfit and that Manchester United and Chelsea have also scouted the young winger.
Galatasaray are worried about losing their the Portuguese international on a cut-price transfer fee next summer as he has just two-years remaining on his contract and no buyout clause option.
The Lions are currently in talks with Bruma and his agent over a two-year extension which would include a bumper new contract deal and a release clause in the region of €25 million.
