Tottenham defender who has been likened to Usain Bolt set for £5m move to Newcastle

The USA international defender DeAndre Yedlin is set to complete a move to Newcastle United according to Goal.

The news will come as a blow to Trabzonspor who had tabled an offer for the pacy right-back according to the Turkish outlet Fotospor.

Goal goes onto say that Newcastle have agreed a £5 million deal for the defender who arrived at Newcastle Airport yesterday afternoon.

Trabzonspor are on the hunt for a new right-back after offloading Luis Cavanda to Galatasaray earlier this month. The Black Sea based side are looking to build a strong squad for their 50th anniversary season.

Yedlin featured for Tottenham during pre-season however, has failed to make a Premier League squad this season.

The USA international joined Tottenham from Seattle Sounders back in August 2014. Yedlin made 25 appearances on loan for Sunderland last season. He also has 39 caps for USA, beginning his international career in a friendly with South Korea in February 2014.
