Tottenham face competition from Besiktas to sign £12m Switzerland international star

Besiktas have set their sights on Stoke City star and Switzerland international midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.

The flamboyant winger has been linked with a move away from the Potters after they were relegated from the Premier League. Stoke finished the season in 19th spot with 33 points.

A source close to Besiktas has revealed to Turkish-Football.com that the Black Eagles are interested in signing Shaqiri this summer. Besiktas are hopeful on signing the midfielder for a cut-price fee after Stoke were relegated.

Per the source, Besiktas president Fikret Orman met with Shaqiri’s representatives in London to inquire about the former Bayern Munich star’s availability.

Meanwhile, according to TeamTalk, Tottenham are also in the race to sign Shaqiri on a £12 million deal this summer. The report stated that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to sign a creative midfielder and that Tottenham have already made contact with Stoke City regarding a move for the winger.

Shaqiri registered six assists and scored eight goals in 35 Premier League appearances for the Potters this season.
