Tottenham have joined the race for Juventus defender Merih Demiral according to Bleacher Report.

Per the source, Spurs have made contact with the 21-year-old’s representatives over a January move.

The latest development follows an earlier report by Turkish-Football that Arsenal and Manchester United are plotting a move for the powerful centre-back.

Juventus are unprepared to accept offers under €30m for the young defender. In fact, the reigning Serie A champions would prefer to keep Demiral at the club as a long term prospect.

The Turkey international meanwhile, wants more playing time.

Demiral has struggled for game time at Juventus under the stewardship of Maurizzio Sarri since joining from Sassuolo over the summer.

The 1.91m tall defender has grown frustrated with his lack of playing time but with Bonucci, De Ligt, Rugani ahead of him in the pecking order and Giorgio Chiellini set to return from a lengthy injury it does not look like his chances of breaking into the first-team are set to improve anytime soon.

Demiral has been in brilliant form for the Turkey national team and played an important role in the Crescent-Stars booking a place at Euro 2020.
