Tottenham Striker Sent Message Of Support To Fenerbahce Ahead Of Istanbul Derby But Missed Clash

Janssen

Fenerbahce missed the chance to knock Besiktas out of the title race in the Istanbul derby on Sunday.

The Yellow Canaries would have delivered the Black Eagles a major blow had they beat their rivals at the Vodafone Park.

The visitors actually scored the opening goal when Fernandao netted inside the first 10 minutes.

Besiktas were coming off the back of a 5-0 defeat to Bayern Munich and rumors of discontent in the camp.

The reigning champions showed a great response to turn the scores round and win the game 3-1 thanks to a brace from Ricardo Quaresma and a goal from Croatia international Domagoj Vida.

Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen tried to give his side a moral boost before the game with his pre-derby Instagram post but it was to no avail.

Janssen missed the derby due to his toe injury and is also likely to be sidelined with the Galatasaray derby in March.

The Netherlands international has not played a game for Fenerbahce since December.
