Tottenham suffer major injury blow to £17m striker, risky surgery rejected

Tottenham have suffered a major injury blow to their high-profile striker Vincent Janssen.

The Dutch striker – who is currently on a season-long loan at Fenerbahce-  could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a toe injury.

Janssen made the move to Tottenham for £17 million from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar back in 2016.

The 23-year-old striker has already been sidelined for over a month due to injury and Turkish outlet Hurriyet recently stated that Janssen could be ruled out for another two months.

Per the source, the medical staff at Fenerbahce are unsure what the actual problem is and have opted to send Janssen over to Germany for further tests.

Hurriyet also states that Janssen’s desire for surgery has been rejected as doctors don’t want to take any risk.

Janssen has just three goals and four assists in all competitions for Fenerbahce this season.

Tottenham take on Newport County in the FA Cup tomorrow and will host Manchester United in the Premier League on Wednesday.
