Tottenham Hotspur want to recall striker Vincent Janssen from his season-long loan at Fenerbahce in January according to Turkish newspaper Fanatik,  for one of two reasons.

Per the source, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants Janssen back after due to the form of summer signing Fernando Llorente who has struggled for goals.

The Dutch striker has managed to win over Fenerbahce fans and is first-choice striker for head coach Aykut Kocaman despite being on an eight match goal streak in the league.

Janssen has three goals and four assists in all competitions this season.

Spurs reportedly have a clause in Janssen’s contract that would allow them to recall the striker in January.

Alternatively the North London outfit are also considering selling Janssen to Napoli.

Janssen joined Spurs for £17million in the summer of 2016 but struggled for goals in his first season.

The 23-year-old has scored six goals and provided four assists for Tottenham last season.

Fenerbahce are currently just one point behind league leaders Basaksehir in the Super Lig.

  1. If Pochettino had given Janssen as much game time as Sissoko then he would really be banging them in. His treatment of playing him for a few minutes off the bench was a waste of time and most certainly not fair, especially for a striker.
This, is just another example of where Pochettino has a lot to learn. Experienced managers try where possible to give a player 30 minutes. A good example of this was Mourinho the other day, things not working changed two players at halftime. Not 5 minutes from the end. And then say the player X number of appearances for the club. This is totally meaningless.
Let’s hope if he is recalled he actually gets the chance to play!
