Burnley striker Wout Weghorst is expected to leave the club this summer as his contract winds down.
The Dutch forward has attracted interest from several clubs, including those in his native Netherlands and Turkey.
Trabzonspor boss Abdullah Avci told Turkish outlet Isci Haber: “We did not get enough of Onuachu last season. He first went to the African Cup with the Nigerian national team, then suffered an injury.
“I don’t want to face the same problems again, that’s why Weghorst is a name that suits us better. If we finalise his transfer, it will be an important development for us.”

Besiktas, where Weghorst enjoyed a successful loan spell in 2022/23, are keen on a reunion. Trabzonspor have also emerged as potential suitors, viewing the striker as a replacement for Paul Onuachu.
Weghorst’s career has been punctuated by loan moves since his £12 million transfer to Burnley in January 2022.
Despite his impressive spells at Besiktas and Hoffenheim, he has struggled to make a significant impact at Burnley, making just 20 appearances for the club.
With Weghorst entering the final year of his contract, Burnley are likely to cash in on the striker this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.
Interest from the Netherlands, Turkey, and potentially other leagues will give Weghorst a range of options to consider as he seeks regular playing time.
