Trabzonspor president denies sacking Vahid Halilhodzic [divider]
Trabzonspor president İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu has strongly denied reports that Vahid Halilhodzic has been fired.
“The rumours are a total and utter fabrication, nothing but nonsense,” Hacıosmanoğlu said.
Halilhodzic was rumoured to be out of a job following Trabzonspor’s 1-1 draw with Lokeren in Europa League Group L.
The former Algeria national team manager was reported to have been replaced with Ersun Yanal.
Yanal released a statement saying, “It is true that Trabzonspor offered me a position but I rejected it on principle, I do not want to be talking about entering a job that is currently occupied by something else, it is unethical.”
The former Fenerbahçe coach was reportedly offered a €2 million deal.
Trabzonspor are currently in 12th place in the league and on the verge of securing a place in the Round of 32 in the Europa League.
Halilhodzic has come under criticism for the teams performances in the Süper Lig but the Bosnian manager has urged his fans for patience.
Trabzonspor shipped out 28 players and made 22 transfers including the likes of Oscar Cardozo, Majeed Waris and Mehmet Ekici this summer.
