Trabzonspor have suffered a blow in the race to sign Sunderland star defender Lamine Kone.
We recently reported that Trabzonspor were in talks with the Black Cats for the 29-year-old centre-back.
However, the Turkish Super League side were unable to match Sunderland’s asking price.
Meanwhile, the French outlet RMC have claimed that the French club Strasbourg have struck a deal with Sunderland to sign Kone on a season-long loan.
Per the source, Kone will travel to the Ligue 1 side this week for a medical.
The news comes as a blow to Trabzonspor who are eager to bolster their defensive options over the summer transfer window.
Kone made the move to Sunderland from FC Lorient for £6.5 million back in January 2016 and has three-years remaining on his contract.
