Turkish Süper Lig giants Trabzonspor have reportedly reignited their interest in Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer, as the Black Sea Storm look to bolster their creative options for the 2026-27 campaign.
The 28-year-old Dutchman has become a top priority for the Trabzon-based club after a standout individual season in the Championship, sources have told Turkish-Football.
The “Playmaker” Solution
Hamer, who was named the Championship Player of the Season last year, has remained a bright spot for Chris Wilder’s side despite a challenging campaign for the Blades.
With 11 assists in 30 appearances this season, his ability to dictate the tempo of the game has caught the eye of Trabzonspor’s recruitment team, who are eager to provide more service to their record-breaking striker, Paul Onuachu.
A Significant Price Drop?
The pursuit of Hamer is not a new development. Trabzonspor reportedly attempted to secure the midfielder last summer and again during the winter transfer window. At the time, Sheffield United’s valuation stood at a steep €15 million.
However, with the Blades currently sitting in the bottom half of the Championship table and Hamer entering the final two years of his contract (set to expire in 2027), the asking price has reportedly cooled.
Recent claims suggest a fee in the region of €6 million could now be enough to tempt the Yorkshire club into a sale.
From Feyenoord to Bramall Lane
Hamer’s journey has been one of steady progression. After starting his career at Feyenoord, he made his name in England during a prolific three-year stint at Coventry City. Although Leeds United were heavily linked with his signature in the past, Sheffield United won the race for his services in 2023.
