Trabzonspor is reportedly showing strong interest in signing Ipswich Town defender Axel Tuanzebe as they look to reinforce their backline for the upcoming Super Lig season.

The 27-year-old English defender’s contract with Ipswich is set to expire, making him a potential free agent this summer.

According to Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik, Trabzonspor manager Fatih Tekke has personally approved the signing of Tuanzebe.

The report suggests that Tekke views Tuanzebe primarily as a central defender, despite his versatility which has seen him feature at right-back for Ipswich.

Tuanzebe’s future at Ipswich Town is uncertain, especially following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

While Ipswich has reportedly offered him a new deal to remain in Suffolk, his status as a free agent makes him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking experienced defenders without a transfer fee.

Trabzonspor, who finished seventh in the Turkish Super Lig last season, narrowly missing out on a European spot, are keen to strengthen their squad to push for continental qualification in the next campaign.

The potential acquisition of Tuanzebe would provide a valuable addition to their defensive options.
