“Transfer window is around the corner” – Ex Arsenal star aims accusation at Alexis Sanchez & Mesut Ozil
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has accused Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez of playing for a move.
Both Ozil and Sanchez have been linked with moves away from the north London-based club in recent weeks.
The duo have under six months remaining on their contracts with Arsenal and could end up leaving the club for free next summer.
Sanchez came close to joining Man City over the summer while Ozil has been linked with a move to rivals Manchester United.
The pair have been in impressive form for Arsenal in recent weeks. However, Petit has suggested that Ozil and Sanchez have improved their form in order to engineer a January move.
“It’s great news for Arsenal that they’ve returned to form, but is that just because the transfer window is around the corner?” Petit told Paddy Power.
“Who knows if they still want to leave? I really hope they remain at the club but, if they do, they need to show the same commitment to help Arsenal to a Champions League spot.”
Both Ozil and Sanchez started for Arsenal over the weekend for their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United at the Emirates.
The Gunners take on BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday before heading south to take on Southampton in the Premier League this weekend.
