Turkey picked up their first win in Group A with a 3-0 victory over Kazakhstan.
The win lifts Turkey off of the foot of the table up into forth place above both Latvia and Kazakhstan.
The Turkish national team got off to a slow start but there nerves were put to rest after Burak Yilmaz was brought down for a penalty by Abdulin in the 26. minute.
The Galatasaray goalscorer found the back of the net from the penalty spot putting Turkey 1-0 ahead.
Burak doubled the lead three minutes later with a low driven shot which Kazakhstan’s goalkeeper Mokin fumbled into the net.
The home fans had to wait until the .83 minute for the games third goal. Serdar Aziz headed in a corner from Gokhan Tore to secure the victory.
Kazakhstan found a consolation goal in the .87 minute from the penalty spot.
Turkey’s evening was soured by Arda Turan’s yellow card in the .90 minute. The Turkish captain will miss Turkey’s crucial game against the Netherlands next year.
