Cenk Tosun Gives His Verdict On Everton Attack

Cenk Tosun scored his first Everton goal in the 2-1 defeat against Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Turkey international started his first game after being dropped for the four previous games for Oumar Niasse.

The 26-year-old spoke about his settling in process on the official Everton website.

Tosun gave his verdict on the Toffees attack.

Everton may be struggling for goals but the striker believes there is a lot of ‘quality up front’ and that playing alongside them has helped develop his game.

“We have a lot of quality players up front,” Tosun said. “Theo Walcott, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Wayne Rooney, Oumar Niasse, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Yannick Bolasie – a lot of players.

“It’s great for me to play with them and when I get to know them fully it will be better still. The Dubai camp was good for me, getting to know my new teammates and it will be even better for me going forward.”

Tosun was also full of praise for head coach Sam Allardyce who has come under fire recently following a poor run of form.

“I know the players around me and the coaches here will improve my game, so I will get better, too, I believe,” he added.

“Spending every day around the guys means that we know one another better now. I’ve settled in very well and I have the support from my teammates, the manager and his coaching staff.”

Tosun scored with his second shot on target against Burnley. He could also have had an assist or two. In fact his pass competition rate of 74.1 per cent was the highest among the starting XI.

The international striker also coped well physically and won five of the eight duels he was involved in.

Tosun hopes he did enough to keep his place in the side against Brighton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

“We have to try to put Burnley in the past as fast as possible and focus on the Brighton game because we are really good at Goodison Park in front of our fans,” he said.

“It will be a tough game but I hope we play the game that we have to and take the three points against Brighton.”
