Sassuolo defender Merih Demiral passed his Juventus medical today ahead of completing his move to the Serie A champions.

A source close to Demiral revealed to Turkish-Football that the defender successfully completed the first of his medical tests and will complete his move to the Italian giants by the end of the month for a €15m transfer fee.

Demiral has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past few years.

The powerful centre-back took a risk three years ago joining Alcanenense in the Portuguese third tier from Fenerbahce in 2016.

Demiral left Sporting Lisbon for Alanyaspor last summer in pursuit of first-team football.

The 21-year-old soon established himself as a star name in the Super Lig before Sassuolo snapped him up in January.

Demiral impressed in the Serie A making 14 appearances and scoring twice.

The rising star also became a prominent figure in the Turkish national team setup and put on an impressive display in the 2-0 victory over France this month in the Group H Euro 2020 qualifier.

Demiral is one of a growing number of Super Lig players to move to top five leagues – Premier League, La Liga, Seria A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 – joining the likes of Mehmet Zeki Celik who joined Lille last summer, Ozan Kabak who was snapped up by Stuttgart in January and Okay Yokuslu who moved to Celta Vigo last year.
