Turkey Super Lig Wrap: Tottenham striker has debut to forget, Abdulkadir Omur rescues Trabzonspor & Besiktas
Karabukspor 0-1 Besiktas
The Black Eagles managed to just about scrape a victory against a dogged Karabukspor side. Oguzhan Ozyakup missed a penalty and to make matters worse Tosic was sent off. The pitch was terrible which frustrated Besiktas further. The match looked destined for a draw until Ozyakup redeemed himself with a magnificent defence splitting through-ball which Ryan Babel converted.
Our favourite moment however, was Quaresma fouling the referee!

Sivasspor 0-2 Kayserispor
Kayserispor ended up winning the major central Anatolian derby. Umut Bulut continued his tradition of missing sitters and scoring wonder goals with a thunderbolt from outside the penalty area.
Konyaspor 0-2 Alanyaspor
Konyaspor were traditionally strong at home but you would never have guessed that on Saturday. Alanyaspor picked up an unlikely away victory which could come in handy towards the end of the season considering they are early relegation candidates.
Fenerbahce 2-3 Basaksehir
Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen had a debut to forget at his loan club. Just when you thought things could not get any worse for Fenerbahce they went and lost their first ever game at home against Basaksehir. The once-upon-a-time Istanbul minnows are yet again genuine title contenders. Abdullah Avci’s side simply cannot be underestimated anymore. The visitors took a two goal lead with goals from Attamah and another ex Tottenham forward Adebayor. The Yellow Canaries did manage to equalise but Janssen now Soldado were able to find a winner.
Instead it was Kerim Frei who had the last laugh. The Turkish international scored his first goal since joining from Birmingham City over the summer in a last-gasp winner.

Trabzonspor 3-1 Genclerbirligi
On the surface this was a routine home win for Trabzonspor. However, Sunday 10 September will be remembered as the date a star was born. Eighteen-year-old wonder kid Abulkadir Omur came on in the second half with his side 1-0 down. The starlet transformed the game, providing the assist for the opening goal and putting on a brilliant display. We first spotted Omur last year when we included him in the Guardian Next Generation 2016 series.

Osmanlispor 0-2 Goztepe
The newly promoted Izmir side continue to go from strength to strength. Goztepe beat Osmanlispor 2-0 on the road to move into 6th place. Goz Goz’s form is even more impressive considering they have already played Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce.
Bursaspor 3-0 Akhisar

Antalyaspor 1-1 Galatasaray
Bafetimbi Gomis put Galatasaray ahead with his fifth goal in four games but Samuel Eto’o put a halt to the visitors three game win streak. A draw away to Antalya is nothing to be scoffed at but the reaction from some sections of the fanbase and media was a tad over the top. It would not actually surprise me if some at Galatasaray are gearing up for a Fatih Terim takeover!

Kasimpasa 3-2 Malatyaspor
This game yo-yoed between Kasimpasa taking the lead and Malatyaspor equalising. After pulling level twice the visitors eventually succumbed to defeat following a last minute goal from former Manchester United youth Neumayr.
