Trabzonspor President Ahmet Agaoglu has confirmed the clubs interest in Leeds United forward Caleb Ekuban.
We recently reported that Trabzonspor were in talks with Ekuban’s representatives. The Black Sea based club are hoping to bring in the Ghanaian forward to strengthen their attacking options.
Speaking to the daily Turkish newspaper Sabah, Agaoglu Agaolu confirmed that talks between Trabzon and Leeds are ongoing.
“We have held talks with almost 20 players over the summer. We can confirm that Ekuban is among these players,” Agaoglu told Sabah.
“We have lost Muhammet Beşir and Ramil Sheidaev over the summer which leaves just Burak and Rodallega in attack.
“Ekuban is available for a low fee and talks are ongoing.”
Ekuban made the move to Leeds United back in 2017 from the Serie A side Chievo.
The Ghanaian striker scored just one goal in 20 appearances for the Peacocks last season. Ekuban has fallen down the pecking order at Leeds following the appointed of Marcelo Bielsa as manager. E
The 24-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Peacocks this season.
Trabzonspor are back in action this weekend when they take on their rivals Galatasaray.
Meanwhile, Leeds United take on Preston in the League Cup tonight at Ellen Road.
