Turkish club welcomes Burnley to Istanbul ahead of Europa League clash

Burnley will face Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir in the Europa League third qualification round.

The first leg takes place in Istanbul on August 9 while the second leg is scheduled for August 16.

Burnley defeated Aberdeen to book their clash against Basaksehir. The Turkish Super Lig side based club took to social media to congratulate Burnley and welcomed them to Istanbul.

Istanbul Basaksehir were title challengers last season and finished up in third place, just three points behind champions Galatasaray.

Burnley qualified for the Europa League after ending the 2017/18 season in seventh place.

Sean Dyche’s side will be up against former Arsenal and Manchester City duo Emanuel Adebayor and Gael Clichy who now play for Basaksehir.

Basaksehir are managed by the former Turkey national team boss Abdullah Avci. The Istanbul based club have signed Milos Jojic, Musa Muhammed and Cheikhou Dieng over the summer.

Burnley’s first game of the 2018/19 Premier League season is against Southampton on Sunday, August 12.
