Turkish Cup Final: Akhisar vs Fenerbahce – Latest team news, expected line-ups and where to watch it

Fenerbahce take on Akhisar in the Turkish Cup final on Thursday at the Diyarbakir Stadium.

The city of Diyarbakir will host the cup final for the first time.

Fenerbahce Team News

The Yellow Canaries have lifted the cup six times but have now gone five years without winning the trophy. In fact, the Istanbul giants have gone four-years without any silverware.

Fenerbahce qualified for the final after Besiktas forfeited the semi-final second-leg clash.

Besiktas were disqualified for not turning up to the game. The Black Eagles boycotted the match after manager Senol Gunes was struck on the head by an object thrown from a Fenerbahce fan in the stands.

Gunes was taken to hospital, received five stitches and suffered a mild concussion.

The TFF gave Fenerbahce a three-game stadium ban which Besiktas felt was unfair considering what their manager went through and subsequently decided to not turn up to the rescheduled clash in protest.

Aykut Kocaman has a full-strength squad to chose from, Nabil Dirar has recovered from injury and could feature.

Star names, Valbuena, Giuliano and Josef de Souza are all available.

Akhisar Team News

Akhisar head into the game as underdogs having never won the trophy. It is worth pointing out that the Akigolar have already beat Fenerbahce twice this season.

Speaking Wednesday evening, Akhisarspor manager Okan Buruk said playing in the final is “extremely important”.

“It will be a different kind of honor for us if we can secure the UEFA Europa League ticket, considering that we were founded only in 1970,” he said.

The winner of the final will play in the elimination matches next season to participate in the UEFA Europa League group stage matches.

Akhisar will be without star man Yevgen Seleznov who is suspended, meanwhile, Milan Lukac has also been ruled out.

Where Can You Watch It?
