Turkish giants Galatasaray and Besitkas have joined the race to sign Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost.
Stars & Friend – Dost’s management company – agent Mihat Halis has revealed to Turkish-football.com that the Istanbul giants have made an enquiry as have Premier League outfit Southampton.
“Galatasaray are interested, so are Besiktas and Southampton but the question is how serious are they. There are no offers on the table and the decision is of course up to Wolfsburg,” Halis said.
Wolfsburg are however, in a financial position where they are under no pressure to sell and will only part ways with the Dutch striker if their valuation is met.
Galatasaray and Besiktas are both in pursuit of a new striker. The Lions lost Burak Yilmaz to China last January while Black Eagles star striker Mario Gomez recently revealed that he will not return to the club.
Gomez was top goalscorer for Besiktas last season and played a key role in his side winning the league title and booking a place in the Champions League.
Bas Dost joined Wolfsburg from SC Heerenveen for £6 million back in July 2012. The 27-year-old provided two assists and scored ten goals in 31 appearances for the Bundesliga side in all competitions.
Wolfsburg finished last season in eight place meaning that they will be without European football in the upcoming season.
